Jeg lytter til...
Der er især to musiknumre, som interesserer mig for øjeblikket, og som jeg kan høre igen og igen. Det påfaldende er, at der er over 25 års forskel mellem de to sange, men at de alligevel dækker to sider af samme sag. Og så er det begge film-temaer. Tillad mig at forklare.
Det første nummer, "Eye of The Tiger" er kendt fra filmen Rocky III, den bedst sælgende amerikanske film i 1982. Bandet hedder "Survivor".
Rygtet siger, at Sylvester Stallone (Rocky Balboa) havde hørt et par af Survivors numre og udset sig bandet til at komponere og spille titelsangen til filmen. "Sly" ringede Jim Peterik og Frankie Sullivan - Survivors faste tekstforfatter og komponist - på et tidspunkt hvor ingen af de to var hjemme. Altså efterlod han, naturligvis, beskeden på deres telefonsvarer. På det tidspunkt var telefonsvarerer state of the art, og da de to kom hjem og så lampen blinke, blev de meget overraskede og spændte. Men da de hørte beskeden, troede de begge, at de blev holdt for nar.
Det skulle senere vise sig, at det langt fra var tilfældet. Sangen "Eye of The Tiger" strøg over night til tops på både amerikanske og internationale salgslister.
Teksten er som følger

Som enhver kan forstå en sang om det at overleve.
Oprindeligt skulle sangen også have heddet "Survival", men på grund af teknikaliteter - versefødder, rim og den slags - valgte sangskriverne at gøre "It's The Eye of The Tiger" til sangens hookline.
Stallone var rigitig glad for sangen, men bad Survivor om at skrive et fjerde vers og gøre trommerne kraftigere.
Set ud fra en (amatør)musikers synspunkt er det også netop fjerde vers og trommetemaet (hvor simpelt det end måtte være), der gør sangen til en evergreen.
Sly har talent for "hooks", som de, der kender ham siger.
Den anden sang hedder "You Know My Name" og er måske kendt for radiolyttere eller biografgængere. teksten er som følger:

By the merciless eyes of deceit?
I've seen angels fall from blinding heights

"You Know My Name" er titelsangen fra den nyeste James Bond-film (nr 21 i serien) med den engelske skuespiller Daniel Craig i hovedrollen, "Casino Royale". Denne film og facts omkring den er tilgængelige for enhver. Her er det sangen, skrevet af ex-Soundgarden-guitarist og -singer/songwriter, Chris Cornell, det drejer sig om.
"You Know..." er ikke nogen typisk Bond-sang. Filmmagerne forsøgte på mange måder at bryde stereotyperne, da de planlagde og filmede "Casino Royale". For eksempel: Det klassiske Bond-tema er ikke at høre mens filmen kører - det dukker først op under rulleteksterne.
Hvor Survivors tekst beskriver den sejrende efter sejren, beskriver Cornells mere melankolske og længselsfulde tekst dét at være midt i fighten.
To gode tekster, som en mand kan tænke længe over.
